Originally supposed to launch in August alongside the new Xbox One

Originally supposed to launch in mcpe seeds August alongside the new Xbox One and PS4 editions of Minecraft, 4J Studios' PS Vita port in the popular franchise was unfortunately delayed and is still currently in development.  Even after Minecraft eventually launched late on current-gen platforms earlier this month, the planned handheld version was further postponed.  Giving fans an update for the development process on Minecraft: PS Vita Edition, 4J Studios confirmed on Sept. 16 they are still hard at work on removing bugs but expect to send the title off for certification soon.

Before the relieve Minecraft's Xbox One and PS4 versions, 4J Studios expressed their desire to keep all of the various editions with the game about the same update schedule much like what you currently do on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.  The developer is apparently staying with that plan because they have said the initial cross-generational update is originating soon.
